Instagraming Flores, The Jewel of Eastern Indonesia

There may not be a heaven on earth, but there are pieces of it. And it’s Flores.

Flores is an island in Southeast Indonesia, part of the East Nusa Tenggara province. There is Komodo National Park in Western Flores which became a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Komodo National Park is famous for its beautiful islands with pristine beach like Rinca, Gili Laba, Gili Padar, Pink Beach, Manta Point, as well as Kanawa Island.

But Flores is not just about Komodo’s. There are many beautiful places across the island, start from its harbour at Labuan Bajo, the unique Waerebo Cultural Village, the sacred Kelimutu Lake, and the beautiful culture at Alor, Eastern Flores.

Getting There

By plane: Garuda Indonesia and Wings Air fly everyday directly from Denpasar to Labuan Bajo. You can also fly from Kupang to Maumere, Ende, and Alor.

By road: Get a bus from Mataram in Lombok island to Sape in Sumbawa, it tooks about 12 hours. The bus is connected with ferry from Sape to Labuan Bajo, vice versa.

By sea: Get a “Sail Komodo” tour package from Bali or Lombok. The sailing tour will bring you a life-on-boat for about 3 or 4 days.
